CVS – How Do I Get Started?

First things first – Go to CVS.com and sign up for their Extra Care Rewards Program. Every time you make a purchase, you will give the cashier your Extra Care Card to scan and earn Extra Care Rewards. You may also receive instant savings on items featured in the weekly ad. Make sure to sign up for e-mail offers so you can receive additional savings through out the year. It is here, I receive coupons like $4 off $20 purchase.
What are Extra Care Bucks (ECB)? Extra Care Bucks are the rewards you earn at any CVS/pharmacy when you use your Extra Care card. The ECB will print on the bottom of your receipt to be used at your next purchase.
What ways can I earn ECB?
(1) Earn 2% back with every purchase in-store and online. Rebate will be give
(2) Earn 1 ECB for every 2 prescriptions purchased.
These ECB’s will print every 3 months on your store receipt, or you can go online to print them.
(3) Earn ECB on selected brands advertised in the weekly ads. These will print on your receipt immediately after qualifying purchase.
The Extra Care program allows you to purchase up to the limit amount of the same advertised item and receive ECB for each item. Many times I have discovered my local CVS may only have one of the two sale items. CVS gives the advantage of not having to purchase all qualifying items in one transaction. So I can purchase the rest needed at another store. Your ECB will then print once you have purchased the qualifying amount.
What I love best is that ECB’s are not considered manufacture coupons. This is very important because you are able to use a CVS coupon, Manufactures coupon and ECB all on the same purchase. For instance, I can purchase a $4.00 box of aspirin and use a $2.00 CVS coupon, $1.00 manufacture coupon and a $1.00 ECB and only pay the taxes out of pocket.
In addition to the above coupons, you can also use the coupons CVS will e-mail you, for example $4 off $20 purchase. The total purchase price is before any coupons are used. You can really stack your coupons for awesome deals and savings.
The main thing to remember is that you ALWAYS need to scan your Extra Care Card. This is the only way to receive your rewards and redeem your ECB.
