Walgreens can be kinda tricky but if done properly, you can really stack up some great deals, free stuff and even make a little money.
In Ad Coupons: Walgreens weekly circular are filled with coupons good at Walgreens. These are store coupons so they can be used with a manufactures coupon.
Register Rewards (RR): These are the coupons that print after purchasing the promotional products. This is Walgreens version of Catalina coupons. Walgreens will usually advertise Register Rewards in their weekly ads and in the store.
You will only receive one RR per promotion for each transaction. So if you want to pick up multiple toothpastes, you will have to ring them up separately. Keep in mind you will not receive another RR if you use the one you received from the prior purchase to pay for the same item on the next transaction. In other words, do not use the RR you received from the first toothpaste to pay for the second.
This is where it gets tricky. Register Rewards are considered manufacture coupons. You will have to make sure you have more items than coupons. Otherwise, you may have to add a filler item to be able to use your RR. To make things easier for me, I always have a back up plan for a filler item just in case.
EasySaver Catalog (ESC): Every month Walgreens puts out a new catalog that contains coupons and mail in rebates for the month. You can find them at the front of the store. PICK ONE UP!!
Instant Value Coupon (IVC): These are manufacture coupons found in the ESC that are only good at Walgreens. These can be used with manufacture coupons.
You will also find additional coupons around the store and in different Walgreens magazines found in the pharmacy. Most cashiers are very helpful if you have any questions about what coupons you can use and as long as the register will accept them, so will they.
There is an order to giving the cashier your coupons. Giving your RR before your coupons for some reason will help reduce problems. So when possible you should give your RR then manufactures coupons then store coupons.
